Biographical Sketch:
Of Scottish and German descent. Son of Charles R. and Alta M. (Sadler) Stewart. He came to Michigan around 1873. He practiced law in Grand Rapids, MI. Earl Stewart served as a sergeant major on the staff of the 32nd Michigan Infantry during the Spanish-American War. During World War 1, he served as a Major in the 126th Infantry, commanding the 3rd Battalion. He served in the 63rd Infantry Brigade,Michigan National Guard after the war.
