Biographical Sketch:
Of Irish descent. He moved to Detroit with his parents at age 3. Member of Chawke & Lee law firm. He was Asst. Corporation Counsel for the city of Detroit for 44 years [retiring in 1956]; appointed State Public Service Commissioner, 1957-61. He specialized in public utility law. Member of the Detroit; American; Michigan; and International Bar Associations; the American Judicature Society; the Federal Power Bar Association; the National Institute of Municipal Law Officers; and the Michigan Municipal League [which he helped organize in 1910]. member of the Masons.

Notable Facts:
He was the youngest member of the Senate during his term. Known as "the friend of the utility-rate payer." Advocated for workmen's compensation legislation.
