Biographical Sketch:
Son of John and Margaret (O'Malley) Chambers, both from County Mayo, Ireland. In 1870, he became associated with merchandising in St. Ignace. The firm of Chambers Brothers began its career about the close of the Civil war. He and his brothers extended their operations by buying, packing and selling fish. He served as mayor of St. Ignace for 2 terms. in 1902, he was appointed Mr. Chambers a member of the board of control for the Michigan School of Mines at Houghton.
