    Biographical Sketch: 
    Son of Edward [or Edmund] and Lydia Ann (Ingersoll) Curtis. About 1859 the family moved to Commerce Township, Oakland County, MI and then to Flint, MI. about a year later. During the Civil War, he was hospital steward of the 102d U.S. Colored Troops.  Dr. Curtis was alderman of the city of Flint for 6 years and city clerk for 3 years; and on the school board [Commerce, MI].  Member of the Masons, the GAR. Served as postmaster
    Notable Facts: 
    Enlisted in the Colored infantry because there was an opening in the hospital.
