Biographical Sketch:
Of English and Scottich ancestry. Son of Joseph and Maria (Ranney) Dewey. With the exception of a short stint in business in Iowa manufacturing pumps, he engaged in farming almost all his life. In 1881, he settled in Grand Blanc, MI. He raised American merino sheep and was a general agent for the D.S. Morgan and Co. which sold harvesting machinery. He served as a justice of the peace, drainage commissioner and was a member of the executive board of the Genesee County Agricultural Society as well as a member of the State Agricultural Society.

Notable Facts:
Birth date given as 4/4/1839 in ? May have died in Sonoma, CA 1/30/1925. An H.R. Dewey is buried in Oak Mound Cemetery, Healdburg, Sonoma Co., CA per Find-a-Grave.
