Biographical Sketch:
He was appointed as an assistant attorney general in 1975, assigned to represent, at various times, the Department of Social Services, Mental Health, Natural Resources, and State Police. He also served as assistant general for 27 years and was in former Attorney General Frank Kelly’s Environmental Protection Division, represented the Public Service Commission, and was general counsel to the Commission on Law Enforcement Standards. He was Mayor of East Lansing in 1998-05. His final term expired in November 2005. He also served on the East Lansing City Council from 1995-2005. In November 2012 he ran for the position of a judge of the 54B District Court, but he was unsuccessful. He was elected to the East Lansing City Council in November 2015 and elected mayor of East Lansing in November 2015.
