Biographical Sketch:
Eldest of 10 children. Of French descent. Attended public schools in Mount Morris & Temple Hill Academy, Geneseo, NY; moved to Flint, Genesee Co., MI, 8/1836; taught school, 1837-1838; engaged in agricultural pursuits from 1839-1856; school inspector; justice of the peace & twp treasurer; co. treasurer 1856-1864; engaged in the lumber business, wagon manufacture & banking. Did recruiting & supplied the army during the Civil War.
