Academic Began study of law at age 19, admitted to the bar in 1858.

Biographical Sketch:
In 1859 came to MI and began practicing law in St. Johns and was elected village clerk the next spring. In the fall he went to Mississippi and remained until the fall of 1861 when he returned to MI and settled in Wayne. Moved to Wyandotte in 1864 where he engaged in practice. He was Justice of the Peace and many years City Attorney. In 1872 was a delegate to the convention at Louisville which nominated Charles O'Connor for President.
