Son of William and ? (Chalmers) Aitken. Of Scottish descent. Moved to Genesee County, MI in 1842. Organized the Genesee County Mutual Fire Insurance Co. Served over 25 years as Supervisor of Flint. A Whig until he became a Republican in 1854.

Notable Facts:
Death certificate gives birth date as 2/5/1819. Father of David D. Aitken who was U.S. Representative from Michigan's 6th District, 1893-97 and mayor of Flint, Mich., 1905-06.
