Biographical Sketch:
Son of Archie C. and Luella (Willits) Newton. His mother died when he was 12. Entered farm partnership with his father after HS graduation. Purchased the farm soon after his marriage. He was director of the Delton Telephone Co., and secretary-treasurer of the Delton Elevator Co.; member of the Tax Allocation Board, supervisor of Barry Township, chairman of the Barry County Board of Supervisors [10 years] and chairman of the Barry County Republican Committee; He was Assistant Auditor General for Michigan in 1964; appointed Chief Deputy State Treasurer, 1965 to January 1981. He was on the Barry County Telephone Company Board of Directors for 57 years. Member of Hickory Lodge No. 345, F. & A.M. [Masons], Farm Bureau, Grange, Red Cross and Barry County Sportsman's Club.
