Biographical Sketch:
Admitted to the bar in Lenawee County, MI in 1859. He was Commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in 1862 and raised a company for the 4th Michigan Cavalry. He was given a field commision as Captain in August, 1862 and to Major in 1863. He was wounded in Kingston, GA on May 18, 1864 and became brevet Lieutenant Colonel, March 13, 1865. After being wounded he returned to Michigan and was attached to court-martial duty in Jackson. He mustered out on July 20, 1865. He served as justice of the peace in Adrian, 3 terms, as mayor of Adrian and as probate court judge. He served several years as consul in Canada.
