Biographical Sketch:
Son of Amos and Mary TaylorHe enlisted in the Michigan 2nd Infantry, Co K, May 10, 1861 as a private. He was wounded in action 7/11/1863 in Jackson, MS, as a sgt. and wounded again in Knoxville, TN in November 1863. He also served with Co C of the 17th Infantry. He was discharged in Detroit May 25, 1864 but re-entered service, 3/1/1865. He was provost marshall in Charleston, TN, mustering out as a captain in Knoxville in September, 1865. he settled in Laingsburg, MI after the war. In 1880, he was living in Grand Rapids, MI. In 1885, he was farming in Kidder Co., Dakota Territory. In 1890 he was living in the Eastern Michigan Asylum during June, suffering from dementia and had incurred 7 shots to the thigh and also had a head wound.
