Biographical Sketch:
He moved with his parents to Ohio when
quite young. His grandfather on his mother's side, served in the war of the Revolution, and wintered at Valley Forge. A portion of the time he was one of Gen. Washington's body guard. His father was a soldier in the war of 1812. While in Ohio he was engaged in lumbering, and buying and selling for eastern parties. In 1863 he
moved to Bay City, MI. His business was dealing in and shipping lumber. He was a member of the Bay City Board of Education, and was Chairman of the board one year, and a Commissioner of the Bay City Water Works after 1872. He was one of the original proprietors of the State Bank of Bay City, and one of the Directors of that
institution until its consolidation with the Second National Bank of Bay City, and was elected as one of the Directors
