Biographical Sketch:
He came to Michigan as a child with his parents, Cyrus W. and Hannah [or Harriet] (Thomas) Wetherbee. They settled in Detroit in 1870. Entered law office of Claude N. Riopelle in Detroit at 19 for a year. Economic circumstances forced him to abandon law. He spent 12 years in the Lester Peacock coal and oil business, studying law when possible. In 1891 he entered the profession, taking courses at the Detroit College of Law for 2 years. He served as inspector of election and ward committeeman; chairman of his precinct; and chief census enumerator for Detroit in 1894.
