Son of Charles B. and Gertrude E. (Baker) Woods. Worked 4 years as a clerk at J. B. Branch and Company in Coldwater MI after graduating public school. He was a law clerk in Chicago before practicing law in Ishpeming MI with George W. Hayden. After Mr. Hayden's death in 1902, relocated his practice to Manistique. Served 7 terms as Manistique city attorney and also served as prosecuting attorney of Schoolcraft county.
