Son of Jared and Lydia Maria Mason. He came to Michigan in 1844. He enlisted in the 8th Michigan infantry in 1861. He was Promoted to Full Regt Postmaster.
Promoted to Full 2nd Lieutenant on 01 Jan 1865. After the war, he engaged in the drug business in Flint before moving to Saint Ignace in 1880.
