Biographical Sketch:
Of Scottish and English descent. Son of Thomas and Anna (Lewis) McKee. He moved to Bond Co., IL in 1844 and to Three Oaks, MI in 1854. In 1859 and 1860 he was a clerk in Niles. In 1855, at 18, he became a clerk in the store of Henry Chamberlain, in Three Oaks, and was for a time a partner until 1868. He continued in the mercantile trade. He served as school inspector, school board mmber, president of the village, member of the common council, township clerk and treasurer and supervisor.
