Biographical Sketch:
His parents, Solon and Laura (Murray) Allen, moved to MI from Vermont in 1829; moved to Marshall, Calhoun Co., MI in 1835. He began teaching during winters at age 17. He moved to a farm near Bellevue with his wife in 1860. In 1876, he sold this farm and purchased a farm nearer the village. He served as township treasurer, school inspector and village trustee, and was a member of the county committee for a number of years. President of the Bellevue Bank.

Notable Facts:
Presidential Elector for Michigan, 1900. Died of diabetic gangrene and coma.
