Biographical Sketch:
His family moved to Lowell, Kent Co., MI in 1868. Worked at the now defunct Grand Rapids Times then at the Leader, the Eagle and the Democrat, all in Grand Ra[ids. In 1882, he was interested in the Kalamazoo Daily Commercial as editor and part owner. In 1883, he went to Detroit and for 12 years was a reporter, then city editor for the Free Press. He directed their Washington bureau for 8 years, until 1896. He then worked for the Denver News, the Salt Lake Herald, the Anaconda Standard and the Chicago Dispatch. Finally he was covering Washington for the Detroit Times, Saginaw News and Kalamazoo Gazette.. He was once the president of the Gridiron Club in Washington, 1898. Member of the Masons, Knights of Pythias and the Odd Fellows.
