Biographical Sketch:
Son of Cyrus and Eliza (Root) Hunt. He lived on his father's farm until he was 12 years of age, when he moved with his parents, June, 1855, to Lowell, Kent County, MI. He entered the army as 2d Lieutenant, Co. I, 26th Regiment of Michigan Infantry, 2nd Corps, Army of the Potomac. Wounded in action at Todd Tavern, near Spotsylvania; promoted to captain, September 1864. He returned to the drug trade after the war, forming a partnership with A.P. Hunter in January, 1866. He served as supervisor of his township 3 times, village trustee 2 years, and school trustee 4 years.
