Son of Luther and Aseneth (Taylor) Lakey of MA. He resided in NY and PA until 1861, when he enlisted at the age of 15, in the 1st Bat Pennsylvania, and served until May, 1865. He located at Kalamazoo, MI in 1867, and engaged in the manufacture of paints and roofing. He was a member of the Common Council.
