Biographical Sketch:
Of Scottish descent. Son of Alexander and Elizabeth (Airth or Earth) Ogg. Lived in Detriot from boyhood. Worked in the composing and editorial rooms of the Detroit News; was a newsboy and learned the printer's trade before becoming a newspaper writer. He was secretary for the Dept. of Public Works for 5 years. Acted as a manufacturer's representative for paving materials in Detroit. As a printer, he was a member of the Detroit Typographical Union and was active in labor efforts. He last job was as deputy sheriff, attached to Judge Moynihan's court. Member of the Masons, Knights Templar and the Independent Order of Eagles. He was one of the organizers of the Old Newsboys Association. President of the Trades and Labor Council, 2 years and helped organize the State Federation of Labor.
Notable Facts:
House of Representatives 1887, 1909, 1911. Elected to the Senate Nov. 5, 1912. Candidate in primary for Lieutenant Governor of Michigan, 1916. Youngest member of the House in 1886. Elected to the House again 22 years later in 1908.
Died as the result of injuries in an auto accident
