Biographical Sketch:
His parents were French Canadians, and when he was 5 years of age they moved to Canada, where his father engaged in farming. At 13, he entered a mercantile house, serving as a clerk 3 years, then emigrated to the United States, 1872, where he learned a mechanic's trade, which he still follows . He was a member of the common council of the city of Ishpeming 3 years, elected in 1888 for a second term. In 1900, he was a railroad car inspector; in 1910, he was a mechanic for the railroad.
