Biographical Sketch:
Son of Aaron Linton. Moved with his parents to Saginaw, MI, 1859; engaged in various activities connected with the lumber industry at Wells (now Alger); returned to Saginaw, 1878. After the Nester mills were destroyed by fire in 1879, he engaged in the lumber and planing-mill business in East Saginaw with his father and brother. He served as alderman 4 years; elected mayor of Saginaw in 1892. Appointed Postmaster at Saginaw, MI by President McKinley 1898-1914; president of the Saginaw Board of Trade 1905-1911 & 1913-1917. Member of the Masons; Knights of the Maccabees. President of the People's Building and Loan Association of Saginaw County; president of the Michigan State League of Building and Loan Associations during 1891; candidate for Lieutenant Governor in 1890; president of the Saginaw Water Board. In 1919, he was appointed a member of the Michigan State Board of Tax Commissioners and was named secretary a few weeks before his death.
