Biographical Sketch:
Son of Artemas and Celinda (Carter) Pierce. His family roots were in New England. He taught 3 terms while attending the Saint Lawrence Academy during his teen years. He came west and settled in Redford Township in Wayne County, teaching school during the winter and working on his farm in the summer. . He served as supervisor, town clerk, school inspector and justice of the peace He was president of the Redford Agricultural Society at its organization and was an agriculturist. He was secretary and a director of the FARMERS' mUTUAL iNSURANCE cO. OF rEDFORD
