A native of New York, he settled in Canandaigua, Lenawee County, around 1836 and had a flour and feed business there for 30 years. In 1846, was elected Judge. He was also the delegate to the Baltimore Convention in 1 856. He moved to Adrian in 1864. Delegate to Democratic National Convention from Michigan, 1860. He moved to Adrian, MI around 1870.
