Moved with his parents to Michigan, 1834; He attended Albion College, MI but in March 1850, suspended his studies and went to Calif. & engaged in mining on the North Yuba River, near Placerville; in 1856, he engaged in banking in Rough-and-Ready, CA 1850. Returned to a farm near Hamburg, MI in 1858. Delegate to the State constitutional convention of 5/15/1867; supervisor of Hamburg Township, Michigan, 1872-74; probate judge of Livingston Co. 1877-1881. Member of the Masons
