Biographical Sketch:
Of German/Swiss ancestry. He moved to Saginaw in about 1866 at age 11. At age 14 he began working as a fireman on a steamboat, later becoming a marine engineer (for 4 years). He than became an engineer for Power Block for 20 years. He served as alderman of his ward in 1898-1900.
