Biographical Sketch:
Son of Cabel and Christina E. Ellis. He came to Michigan around 1887. He was identified with the base ball interests for several years in Michigan, and gained a reputation among the patrons of the great American game as manager and owner of the Grand Rapids Western League team. He owned two farms and considerable real estate in Grand Rapids. He is listed as mayor of Grand Rapids on the 1920 Census.

Known as the 'Deacon'. Find-a-Grave gives death date as 2/10/1921. He was owner of the Grand Rapids Western League baseball team in 1894-5-6.
