Biographical Sketch:
Associate Editor of the Thomas M. Cooley Journal of Practical and Clinical Law. After taking the Bar Exam, he worked 3 months as a substitute high school teacher. Cotter opened the Law Office of Kevin M. Cotter, PLLC in downtown Mt. Pleasant in November of 2006 and in 2007 merged his practice with J. David Kerr and the Kerr Law Firm, PLLC. Focused on Estate Planning, Business Planning and Elder Law, and was certified by the Dept of Veterans Affairs to represent veterans seeking benefits. Taught as a professor at Mid-Michigan Community College. Prior to entering law school, Cotter worked for Ryder Integrated Logistics at General Motor's Detroit/Hamtramck Assembly Plant for two years as an on-site transportation coordinator of in-bound automotive parts. He worked in Mt. Pleasant for a local trucking company in the areas of Human Resources and Safety. Member of the Michigan Bar Association, and section member of the Elder Law & Disability Rights, and the Probate and Estate Planning sections of the State Bar of Michigan. He is the past Vice President of the Isabella County Bar Association, a member of the National Network of Estate Planning Attorneys, and member and past Vice President and Programming Director of the Michigan Forum of Estate Planners.
