Biographical Sketch:
Son of Thomas [or William] and Rachael Brown. He came to the US in 1883, with his young wife, when he was 19. He secured a position as English teacher in a military school on Long Island. After a few years he entered the newspaper field and worked on New York and Brooklyn papers, specializing in politics. In 1906, he moved to Detroit and became a member of the staff of the Detroit News. Later he entered politics and was elected secretary of the Detroit school board He later was elected as member-at-large of the board of estimates. He also served as secretary of the Board of Education. He was engaged in the insurance business.

Notable Facts:
1900 US Census indicates marriage in 1884 but County Marriage record says 1894. Find-a-Grave shows a child lost on 1886; may be more than one marriage.? There are 2 different records for this person in Find-a-Grave; place of burial differs. Died of a cerebral hemorrage following a self-inflicted bullet wound to the brain. Suicide
