Biographical Sketch:
Second child of Asaahel and Mary W. (Van Amburg) Chase. Came to Saginaw, MI in 1868; worked there at various jobs including city clerk. Moved to Evart in Osceola Co. Founded the Evart Review newspaper and acted as editor and publisher until 1880. Served as postmaster for 4 yrs; after 1899 he was involved in real estate and insurance businesses. He was a justice of the peace; Osceola twp supervisor, the village assessor, clerk, trustee and president. He was assistant postmaster four years and judge of probate eight years. Member of the Masons
