Biographical Sketch:
Of Scotch and English ancestry. Son of Franklin J. and Mary Ann (Millard) Gowdy.Farmed fruit in Michigan until 1897 when he moved to Chicago and worked in the office of the L. Wolff Manufacturing Company, plumbing supplies. In 1902, he purchased farms at Union Pier where he then engaged in fruit raising again. He was a member of Michigan state Board of Agriculture, 1924-29.
