Son of John Parsons; of Irish descent. Came to Michigan, 1835. Shiawassee County Register of Deeds; Shiawassee County Prosecuting Attorney; member of University of Michigan board of regents, 1852-54; Lt. Gov./acting Gov. (1853); Governor of Michigan, 1853-55. Died on his farm.
