Son of William B. and Ruth (Womsley) Baird. He was employed by the City of Detroit as a council committee clerk; member of the Masons, Nonesuch Hunt Club, Fifth Wheel Club, Detroit Rod and Gun Club; and was secretary of the Charitable Solicitations Committee. After he had left the Legislature he served as director of Legislative Retirement.
