He was an early pioneer settling in Napoleon Twp. He was a member of the Territorial Convention that framed our State Constitution, prior to Michigan being admitted into the Union. Held many offices. He was an abolisionist involved in the Underground Railroad, coordinating funding and providing lodging and transportation. Rexford was a founding deacon of the First Baptist Church of Napoleon.
