He was educated in the rural schools, Kalamazoo College, and Parson's Business College of Kalamazoo.
Biographical Sketch:
Nephew of Gilbert E. Read.
At the age of fourten years, his father having died five years previous, he assumed the responsibillity of the farm upon which he still resides. He was one of the largest feeders of sheep and lambs in the state, and had won many prizes at the Chicago International Expositions. Also was director of the Kalamazoo City Savings Bank, the Monarch Paper Company, and the General Casualty and Surety Company of Detroit.
Notable Facts:
Republican and was elected to the legislatures in 1918 and 1920, and re-elected November 7, 1922, by a vote of 1,941 to 1,421 for Edward W. Upham.
