Son of Kendall and Elizabeth (Badger) Barry. Of Irish descent. Lived on a farm until 14 when he and his parents moved to Muskegon Co. Attended school in the winter and worked in the saw mill and lumber woods in the summers until he was 18 and engaged in the drug business with Dr. D. H. Root of Newago. Held offices of Village Pres., Justice of the Peace & Supervisor.

Notable Facts:
Graduated from University of Michigan's medical department in 1873. Then located at Coral, Montcalm Co.where he practiced medicine until 1899. He then engaged in general merchandise business at Harrietta, Wexford Co. under to firm names of Barry Bros. & Curtis.
