Biographical Sketch:
He came to Michigan sometime before 1839 when he was principal of the Tecumseh branch of the fledgling state university. In 1840 he moved to Detroit as a professor of the Detroit branch of the university. While there he also studied law and was admitted to the bar. From 1844-48 he practiced with Witter T. Baxter. He was master of the chancery in 1848. He eventually moved to Chicago, IL.
