Biographical Sketch:
Son of Jared and Stativa (Bartlit) Pond. He came to southern Michigan with his parents around 1832. He moved to Ann Arbor in 1854 when he purchased the Michgan Argus. He was owner and editor of the Argus for 25 years. He served on the Ann Arbor school board for over 12 years; appointed warden of Jackson prison in 1893-85; justice of the peace in Ann Arbor for 10 years.
