Biographical Sketch:
Admitted to the bar in 1848; went to California in 1849. He was register of probate and register/recorder in San Francisco. From 1852-64, he resided in Shelburne, VT. In 1864, he moved to Marquette, MI to practice law; in 1866 he moved to Houghton. He was elected judge of the 12th circuit in 1869 and maintained the seat until 1878, when he died.
