Biographical Sketch:
Son of John and Marie (M?ster) Manzelmann. Came to Detroit at age 11, around 1872. He worked as an apprentice at broom-making until twenty years of age. He engaged in the manufacture of brooms with Peter Farley, January 1, 1881, and continued the partnership until the death of Mr. Farley, August 6, 1891, when he assumed entire control of the business, making the institution the largest establishment of this kind in the state. Hewas elder for 7 years in the St. Mark's English Evangelical Lutheran Church. He has also served as director for 9+ years in the Evangelical Lutheran Deaf and Dumb Institute at North Detroit.
