Biographical Sketch:
Of Scottish ancestry. Son of Abram and Hannah (Swartz) Scidmore, When old enough he became a farm hand, and saved his money to attend high school While in high school he was employed as post office clerk for 2 years and clerk in a general store for 2 years. After medical school he moved to Three Rivers to practice. He served on the city council, on the school board, and mayor of Three Rivers for 3 terms. He was chief of the local fire department for 2 years; treasurer of the Saint Joseph County Medical Society, and member of the Michigan State Medical Society and the American Medical Association. Member of the Masons; the Odd Fellows; and the Knights of Pythias. He was a member also of the Uniform Rank of the fraternity, and for four years he was surgeon of the Michigan grand commandery of this branch; and examining physician for Three Rivers Camp, No. 840, Modern Woodmen of America. He served as a member of the Michigan State Board of Registration of Nurses for 6 years.

Notable Facts:
7th of 8 children. Died of chronic diffuse menings encephalitis.
