Of English and Welsh descent. Son of John or David and Ann (Swayne) Evans. Came to the United States in July, 1880 and settled in Ardian.. He worked on a farm for a time and at contract work on drains. He owned a farm in Franklin Twp, Lenawee Co., and engaged in the livestock shipping business. Was a stockholder and director of the Lenawee County Savings Bank of Adrian, and director of the Tecumesh Co-operative Association. He held several township offices. Member of the Knights of Pythias
