Of German descent. Son of Joseph and Josephine (Watt) Frost. He moved to Grand Rapids, MI, in 1901 and was employed in the branch office of Brunswick-Balke-Collender Co. for 7 years. He resigned his position to enter the cigar business. He later added a sporting goods business. He moved to Texas around 1921 and had a service station at the time of his death there in 1940.
