Biographical Sketch:
Son of New England parents, William and Abagail (Hall) Hallett. His family moved to Ohio at the opening of the Civil War where his father enlisted in the 67th Ohio Vol. and fell at the battle of the Deep Bottoms in the 7 day fight. He took up newspaper work at an early age and after returning to Michigan in 1881 went west conducting a newspaper in Kansas for three years. He returned to Kalamazoo and established a printing business which included publishing the Advocate. He was one of the organizers of the Michigan Federartion of Typographical Unions.
