Biographical Sketch:
Of Scotch-German descent, he was the son of Ira McArthur and Beth (or Betsey) Wells After the close of the Spanish-American war, he worked as salesman and prospected in Wyoming until 1901. Upon graduation from the University of Michigan law department in 1905, he practiced law in Eaton county, serving three years as city attorney.
