Biographical Sketch:
Of Scotch-Irish descent. Emigrated in 1879; naturalized in 1898. Son of William and Margaret (Boyle) McGillivray. His family moved to Oscoda when Will was an infant. At age 15, he entered the office of the Press (the local republican paper) as a printer's devil. He purchased the Press in the early 1890s and became the publisher until he sold it in 1946. During his ownership the title changed to the Press and Huron Shore Resorter. Served as Oscoda postmaster under 3 administrations. He was also a longtime US Weather Bureau Reporter and was on the Iosco County Board of Canvassers. Member of the Masons
