Biographical Sketch:
Of Irish parentage. Son of Patrick and Mary (O'Sullivan) Kinnane. Practiced law in Kalamazoo for 10 years. In 1895, he entered the US Indian Service on the Northwest for 2 years. He returned to Dowagiac, MI and opened a law office, 1898. He served as city attorney 2 terms in Kalamazoo beginning 1889. He held various municipal offices in Dowagiac, including city attorney. Mr. Kinnane, in his early life, served three years in the Michigan State Troops. He was prominent in social and fraternal orders; and for several years president of the Cass County Bar Association.

Notable Facts:
Oldest of 9 children. He was a Democrat until 1896 when he became a Republican. Died of pneumonia.
