He was former chairman of the Monroe County Polio Foundation and was active in the March of Dimes; past president of the Monroe Jaycees and past vice president of the Michigan Jaycees; trustee of the Monroe Hospital Association and former director of the Monroe Kiwanis; served five years on Southeastern Michigan Six County Supervisor's Inter-County Committee; six years as member of the Detroit Metropolitan Area Regional Planning Commission; three years as vice president and trustee of the Michigan Municipal League; one year as chairman of the first Atomic Energy Committee of the American Municipal Congress; director of Greater Monroe Chamber of Commerce; past president of Monroe County Life Underwriters Association; past president of Monroe Junior Chamber of Commerce; past director of the Michigan United Fund; state commissioner of baseball for the National Baseball Congress since 1950; chairman of the National Foundation of Infantile Paralysis, 1954-60.

Notable Facts:
He was a city commissioner, mayor, and county commissioner. In 1956 he was named as one of Michigan's Five Outstanding Young Men. He operated his own insurance business for 50 years. He was instrumental in ensuring that I-75 remained a free way and not a toll road.
